A Sweet and Rich Life, Isaac Liu

I was born and raised up in Taiwan. At present I am studying as a graduate student in the U.S. I was saved as a college student in Taipei in October 1989. Before that, although I had had some contact with Christians, I was not saved nor did I understand the Bible. One night I attended a welcome meeting, which some believers in the Lord prepared for some college freshmen like me. In that meeting, the Lord enlightened the eyes of my heart and I was able to see the joy in the Lord from the Christians there. I also saw that darkness filled me because of my sin. As a result, I was determined to receive the Lord and the next day I was baptized into the name of the Lord.

After my baptism, some believers encouraged me to have a time with the Lord in the morning and helped me to learn about the truth in the Bible. Starting from the morning I was able to enter into the Word and the enjoyment of the rich life in the Lord. During my college years, I was taught in the truth, edified in God's life and perfected in service. All these became the foundation of my Christian life for the later days.

After graduating from college, I joined the military service for about two years. By the Lord's sovereign arrangement I was assigned to a military station not far from my hometown. During those two years, I was able to meet with the local church and learned to coordinate with the local believers and thus learned to serve in the church.

Afterwards, I came to the United States and the church life here. The Lord not only brought me more deeply into the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, He also enlarged my vision and capacity to see the local churches on the whole earth and in His Body. Under the ministry of these two Christians I have more knowledge of the Bible and more growth in life. Moreover, I am more willing to be one with the Lord's present move. Of more importance, I desire to be more like Paul who said that he “has suffered the loss of all things and count them as refuse that I may gain Christ.”

In these years in the local churches, I have realized that there are fervent pursuers of the Lord all over the earth. These people are like great a cloud of witnesses surrounding me and I am thus able to put away every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles me and run with endurance the race which is set before me, looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of my faith. This kind of life is full of the sweetness of the Lord and the richness of life.
